Peter is a senior manager from the office established within the Commonwealth Health and Ageing portfolio to oversee the implementation of the health reforms agreed at COAG (with the exception of WA) in April this year.
His involvement with the current round of reforms began when he was Director of Policy and Strategy working to the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission from March 2008 to June 2009.
In April 2010 COAG, with the exception of WA, agreed to the next phase of health reform. The National Health and Hospitals Network Agreement will change health care funding, administration and delivery across Australia, with a focus on improving the health system through a better partnership between States and Territories and the Federal Government.

Mary-Ann McQuestin is currently studying towards a PhD with the Department of Politics and Public Policy at Griffith University. The topic of her thesis is Federalism and Reform under the first Rudd Government and her specific interest is in the capacity of a federal leader to shape intergovernmental policy reform. Her research focuses on two case studies - health financing and governance reform and federal-state financial relations reform.
